Marketing Tip

I often edit copy for company brochures that is focused on "we." We are the best, we can do this, we have this many employees, we have this much experience, we, we, we. Keep in mind that your potential customers care about what you can do for them. Delete "we" and rephrase your copy to incorporate "you."

Old: We are the best service provider in the state.
New: As a local service provider, you will be guaranteed timely, quality help when you need it.

Book Tip

Make your verbs come alive! Get to the point.

Old: He started to run through the wet grass.
New: He ran through the wet grass.

Tidbit

Let your creativity flow while you write. Write fast, write it all, and edit later. Try writing with your computer screen off. It will keep you from stopping, revising, and looking back until you are ready to do just that. Save the precision for editing your draft, not writing it!
