When I started my business in the early nineties, I received a valuable piece of advice: under promise and over deliver. Following that advice I don't commit to deadlines I know I can't meet and services I can't deliver. By keeping my word, I build trust with my clients. I've also noticed that people are more pleased when I exceed their expectations instead of simply meeting them.

Book Tip

When you begin your novel with a prologue, you need to start your book twice and therefore you have two opportunities to lose your reader.

Tidbit

If you were planning to go to Las Vegas, like I was, note the following: Reed Exhibitions has announced changes to the time and setting of future BookExpo America (BEA) conventions. The annual meeting, set for New York at the end of May, will now also be held at New York's Javits Center through 2012, a decision that terminates plans to hold BEA in Washington, D.C. in 2010 and in Las Vegas in 2011.
